Die drei Musiker spielen derzeit in Bands wie den Main Offenders\, Calderone und der St. Michael´s Big Band\, finden aber mit Gentlemen immer wieder zu ihren musikalischen Wurzeln des Blues zurück.

DESCRIPTION:»Ziel war es\, mich selbst zu überraschen.«\nLutz Graf-Ulbrich aka Lüül ist ein ganz eigenes Phänomen in der deutschen Musikgeschichte. Er war bereits Ende der Sechziger Jahre mit seiner Band Agitation Free Pionier des Krautrock\, weltweit erfolgreich mit den 17 Hippies\, glänzte als NDW-Stern mit “Morgens in der U-Bahn”\, beim Reineke Fuchs Rocktheater und immer wieder als deutschsprachiger Singer Songwriter mit Radiohits wie “Westberlin”. Kein Jahrzehnt seitdem\, in dem er nicht seine musikalische Note hinterlassen hätte. Selbst im New Yorker Kultclub CBGB´s sah man ihn auf der Bühne\, aber nicht mit irgendwem – mit Nico und John Cale! Jetzt eröffnet Lutz Graf-Ulbrich ein weiteres Kapitel seiner abwechslungsreichen Karriere und präsentiert mit “Lüüls Lab” sein erstes instrumentales Krautrock Soloalbum auf dem Label KulturManufaktur von Dussmann das KulturKaufhaus. Das Album ist eine Hommage an den kürzlich verstorbenen Gitarristen Manuel Göttsching\, mit dem er zusammen in der Band Ash Ra Tempel / Ashra spielte und seit Jugendzeiten befreundet war. \nVideovorschau: \n\n \nSeinen Ursprung hat das Album in einer Performance auf der Gedenkveranstaltung für den im Dezember 2022 verstorbenen Manuel Göttsching in Berlin. Lüül spielte solo das Stück „Oasis“ vom gemeinsam produzierten 79er Album „Correlations“\, das sich in einer Neuaufnahme nun auch auf seinem Soloalbum befindet. Von diesem Impuls aus begab sich Lüül auf eine musikalische Abenteuerreise\, ohne genau zu wissen\, wohin ihn dieser Weg führen würde. »Mein Gitarrenspiel bei Agitation Free\, Ash Ra Tempel / Ashra war ja immer ein Produkt einer Zusammenarbeit gewesen«\, erzählt Lüül. Erstmals war er in diesem Genre ganz auf sich allein gestellt: »Ziel war es\, mich selbst zu überraschen. Es sollte spontan sein\, roh\, pur und direkt\, wild und ruhig – vor allem aber ohne Schnörkel und Kompromisse.« Es ist ein Album geworden\, das sowohl Göttschings Einfluss als auch Lüüls eigene musikalische Vision verkörpert. Die elektrische Gitarre steht im Mittelpunkt\, ergänzt durch elektronische Elemente\, die die Platte zu einem vielschichtigen musikalischen Erlebnis machen. \n»Ich konnte mich frei entfalten\, lauschte nur meiner eigenen inneren musikalischen Stimme und\nexperimentierte mit Gitarrenlicks\, E-Bow und Sounds in meinem wundersamen „Lüüls Lab“ in Berlin.« \n

DESCRIPTION:Crinale – record release\nThe album Crinale was recorded at Zentrifuge Studio\, Berlin\, Dec.\, 14th 2024\, by the pianist Tommaso Vespo\, the bassist Ben Lahmann and the drummer Martial Frenzel. \nThey never played before as a trio even played together as members of the Berlin Improvisers Orchestra. \nThe music is totally improvised. \nThe mixing and the photo cover are by Tito Knapp. \nThe album is released on https://tommasovespo.bandcamp.com/album/crinale \nTOMMASO VESPO\, Italian jazz pianist\, active in the Italian and European free music scene; member of various groups and orchestras with which he has played in festivals in NY\, London\, Vienna and Italy; he has to his credit recordings as leader and member; since 2013 he has been member of Berlin Improvisers Orchestra. \nBEN LEHMANN\, bassist\, born in Berlin in 1990\, is an active mainstay of Berlin`s young\, modern Jazz scene. He plays together with leading improvisors across different generations in German Free Jazz\, as well as in varying formations which focus on his own and bandmates‘ compositions. Exemplary are his musical collaborations with Christof Thewes\, Henrik Walsdorff\, Rudi Mahall\, Jan Roder\, Anna Kaluza\, Paul Engelmann\, Martial Frenzel\, Florian Müller\, Hartmut Oswald\, Jan Leipnitz\, Johannes Barthelmes and many more. He’s a member of the BerIO. \nMARTIAL FRENZEL\, drummer\, he studied jazz at the University of Saarland and became part of the Saarbrucken jazz scene\, playing in various ensembles as well as in the jazz rock trio HUL (Discoboys\, 2011). Moved to Berlin\, he works regularly with Christof Thewes (in the quartet and big band) and in various groups as Hydropuls\, Fase IV\, Quartetto Pazzo with Rudi Mahall\, among others. He’s a member of the BerIO.

Improvisation is our only way forward.\nThat change is coming; it is emergent and urgent.\, which is sürgős in Hungarian. \nSürgős\nis a new international ensemble featuring globally recognized improvisors coming together in live collaboration\, beginning with a short tour of Europe this April!\nCox and Levin first played together with Cecil Taylor at the San Francisco Jazz Festival in the late 1990s. This will mark their first outing together. Levin and Akira Ando have worked together in several ensembles over the years. Jakub Švejnar and Christopher Cox have worked together with saxophonist Jason Robinson on his last European tour\, and in the exploratory trio Sapien Paradox\, which is a fusion of free jazz and electronic noise music.\nThe music will intense\, not the kind of thing you can passively observe.
