Der deutsch-griechische Daxophonist Kriton Beyer trifft auf den britischen Meister des modularen Synthesizers Richard Scott und den österreichischen Schlagzeuger Rudi Fischerlehner. Die quirligen\, oft humorvollen Patterns und Melodiebögen des Daxophons vermischen sich fließend mit dem Gurgeln und Pfeifen der Oszillatoren des Synthesizers\, gekonnt ergänzt vom organischen Spiel des Schlagzeugs. \nKriton Beyer ist ein deutsch-griechischer Musiker und Komponist\, der – als Performer und Improvisator – hauptsächlich mit dem Harmonium und dem Daxophon arbeitet. Er studierte Musikwissenschaft an der Aristoteles-Universität Thessaloniki in Griechenland\, wo er von 1990 – 2004 mit einer Vielzahl von lokalen Musikgruppen und Musikern wie Sakis Papadimitrou und Floros Floridis zusammenspielte. Im Jahr 2004 zog er nach Berlin\, wo er sich intensiv mit der Improvisations-Szene der Stadt beschäftigte. Seitdem arbeitete er mit zahlreichen Musiker*innen zusammen wie Phil Minton\, Audrey Chen\, Steve Noble\, Fred Lonberg-Holm\, Axel Dörner\, Liz Kosack\, Kresten Osgood\, Tristan Honsinger\, Tomomi Adachi\, Richard Scott\, Willi Kellers\, Matthias Bauer\, Antonis Anissegos\, Olaf Rupp\, Alexei Borisov\, Els Vandeweyer\, Harri Sjöström\, Nicola Hein und Liz Allbee\, Tänzer*innen wie Yuko Kaseki und visuellen Künstler*innen wie Akiko Nakayama. Kriton Beyer hat das „FRAGMENTATION ORCHESTRA“ gegründet\, ist Mitglied des elektroakustischen Trios „uproot“ und der Ensembles „Redox Reaction“ und FDBK EXPT. Bei seiner Arbeit mit dem Harmonium nutzt Kriton Beyer sowohl den natürlichen Klang seines Instrumentes und „traditionelle“ Spielweisen als auch Präparationen\, Objekte und unorthodoxe Spielweisen. Auch beim Spiel des Daxophons fällt seine persönliche\, unkonventionelle Technik und sein überzeugender Klang auf\, der u. a. auch durch die subtile Verwendung von Elektronik zustande kommt. Als Musiker der Improvisationsmusik ist er in ganz Europa aufgetreten. Seine Kompositionen sind größtenteils von der Konzeptkunst geprägt. Kriton Beyer hat darüber hinaus die Musik-Software CinePrompt® konzipiert und entworfen\, die speziell für den Einsatz zur musikalischen Improvisation zu Filmen entwickelt wurde. Kriton Beyer leitet außerdem das Musiklabel „The Procrustean Bed“.

Während eines Großteils des letzten Jahrzehnts hat er sich den Kompositions- und Performance-Möglichkeiten analoger modularer Synthesizer gewidmet. Er arbeitet auch mit einer Vielzahl digitaler Technologien wie Ambisonics\, Mehrkanaldiffusion und mit Instrumenten wie dem Buchla Lightning and Thunder und seinem selbst entworfenen WiGi-System\, das als Artistic Resident bei STEIM entwickelt wurde.\nEr hat mit vielen großartigen Improvisationsmusikern wie Derek Bailey\, Phil Minton\, John Russell\, Axel Dörner\, Thomas Lehn\, Audrey Chen\, Clive Bell\, Richard Barrett\, Kazuhisa Uchihashi\, Michael Vorfeld\, Jon Rose\, Ute Wassermann\, Shelley Hirsch\, Evan Parker gespielt\, Frank Gratkowski\, Stock\, Hausen und Walkman\, Bark! und das Lightning-Ensemble.\nIn den frühen 1980er Jahren von Cabaret Voltaire\, Lee Scratch Perry und Stockhausen inspiriert\, elektronische Musik zu spielen\, wurde er später von John Stevens (Spontaneous Music Ensemble) in die freie Improvisation eingeführt und studierte Saxophon unter der Anleitung von Elton Dean und Steve Lacy. Er studierte klassische indische und westafrikanische Musik und später akusmatische und elektroakustische Komposition bei den Professoren David Berezan und Ricardo Climent.\nEr hat viele Aufnahmen veröffentlicht\, zum Beispiel mit Grutronic und Evan Parker für PSI Records und eine Solo-Doppel-LP\, Multiple Circles\, und ein Album mit Twinkle3 und Sidsel Endreson für Cusp Editions. In den letzten Jahren hat er mehrere bemerkenswerte Konzertreihen in Berlin mitbegründet und mitkuratiert: Basic Electricity\, AUXXX und Sound Anatomy. Von seinem Berliner Studio aus arbeitet er auch als Mastering Engineer für verschiedene Künstler und Labels\, beispielsweise sein eigenes Sound Anatomy-Label\, PSI Records und Huddersfield Contemporary Records (HCR).\nSeine Arbeit wurde auf BBC Radio 3 und 4\, International Computer Music Conference (Athen\, Utrecht und Huddersfield)\, SARC Sonorities Belfast\, International Festival for Artistic Innovation\, Leeds\, MANTIS Electroacoustic Music Festival\, Manchester\, Festival International de Musique Actuelle de Victoriaville\, Quebec\, Berliner Festspiele Immersion\, Next Festival of Advanced Music Bratislava\, London Jazz Festival\, Konfrontationen\, Nickelsdorf\, SMC (Sound Music Computing) Athen und Ulrichsberg Kaleidophon.\nEr hat einen Doktortitel in Soziologie/Musikwissenschaft und einen Master-Abschluss in elektroakustischer Komposition\, einen HND in Jazztheorie und Musikwissenschaft und arbeitet derzeit an einem zweiten Doktortitel\, diesmal in Komposition. Er ist Autor mehrerer Artikel zu den Themen Freie Improvisation\, Modulare Synthese und postakusmatische Musik und hat kürzlich eine Ausgabe von eContact! Zeitschrift für analoge und modulare Synthese. Er schrieb ausführlich für das Wire Magazine\, war Administrator beim LMC (London Musician’s Collective) und war aktives Mitglied der Improvisations- und Elektroakustik-Communities in London\, Manchester und Berlin. 2014 und 2016 initiierte er das Sines&Squares Festival for Analogue and Modular Synthesis in Manchester.\nScott wurde als „ein einzigartiger Virtuose“ und „ein Meister des analogen Synthesizers“ beschrieben. Seine elektroakustische Suite Multiple Circles aus dem Jahr 2016 wurde als „fantastisch farbenfroh und abstrakt“\, „brillant und verwirrend“ und als „ein eigenes Universum“ beschrieben. DESCRIPTION:Eli Khentov: violin\nJohannes Fink: 5 string cello\nRudolfo Paccapelo: double bass\nIsabel Anders: piano\n\n \nBevor ein neues Kompositorisches Werk erschaffen wurde\, lag immer erst die Idee der Komposition zu Grunde. Insofern unterscheidet es sich nur marginal in der Ausführung dieses Quartetts die Idee als Werk spontan auszudrücken. Rodolfo Paccapelo und Johannes Fink\, langjährige Berliner Musikgefährten trafen auf den Geiger Eli Khentov und gründeten nach erster Begegnung ein Trio welches ein Labyrinth der Klänge erzeugt in dem sich der Hörer verliert. Schließlich begegneten sie der Berliner Pianistin Isabel Anders die ein Teil der Besetzung wird und sich unter anderem mit der Vorliebe für Schostakowitsch\, Stravinsky\, Bartok\, Schönberg mit dem Trio eint. Each performance is unique and unpredictable\, never stagnating or resolving the tension of the moment. The debut CD release of Gravelshard on the Portuguese label Phonogram Unit will be available at the concert. \n  \nJohn Hughes: double bass \nJohn Hughes is a professional double bassist\, residing in Hamburg\, Germany. In addition to leading and collaborating with numerous bands and as a solo artist\, John composes for small ensembles\, and organizes concerts for Jazz and free improvised music in Hamburg. John’s massive sound and boundless creativity inspire his bandmates and captivate the audience every time he takes the bandstand. \nOlaf Rupp: electric guitar \nOlaf Rupp’s unique musicality has evolved from decades of dedication to playing free improvisation on both classical and electric guitar. His organically flowing thematic developments arise neither by chance nor by dominant will. There is always paramount focus and intention involved in Olaf’s playing\, regardless of the dynamic and density of the moment. \nVasco Trilla: drum set \nVasco Trilla’s cinematic approach to his extended percussion is evident in the music of Gravelshard. Er erfand den Titel Fug und Unfug für eine Berliner Satire-Reihe\, die Manfred Giesler organisierte und diesen Titel zu Ehren F.W.Bernsteins ins Terzo Mondo mitbringt. Ausser Giesler sprechen und singen Hermann Treusch und Till Schwabenbauer (mit mehreren Instrumenten).\nEs gibt Texte von Bernstein\, Jandl\, Handke\, Gernhardt u.a. DESCRIPTION:isabel rössler\nmarcello busato\ndavid palliser\n\nIsabel Rößler is a jazz bassist and improviser. After studying music in Nuremberg and Tallinn\, she moved to Berlin in 2019\, where she is active in the city’s fluid improvisation scene. In addition to numerous collaborations with local and international artists\, she has toured through Germany and Eastern Europe with her trio «Flut». \n\n\n\n\nMarcello Silvio Busato\nborn 1977 in Milano\, based in Berlin since 2002.\nDrummer\, Composer\, Improviser\, Performer\nMarcello is active in the fields of experimental music\, free jazz\, radical inprovisation\, sound art and noise. He also worked as composer and performer for theater\, cinema and dance projects.\nHis musical research has led him to develop an original approach to the drums and percussion also through the use of extensive techniques.\nHe’s exploring the expressive capacities of his instrument\, developing his own languages\, with a wide vocabulary of dynamics\, densities and speeds\, pushing the acoustic limits of the instrument and various other percussive objects. \nDavid Palliser is an improv musician and visual artist from Melbourne\,Naarm\, Australia. His visual practice informs his sonic and vice a versa. He was a leading member of the post-punk group The People with Chairs up their Noses and more recently The Donkey’s Tail and now continues to perform with The Charles Ives Singers with whom he has toured Japan and NewZealand. He has toured solo and collaborated with many musicians in Australia\, Germany and Asia. His primary instrument is alto saxophone\, often augmented with an idiosyncratic use of real-time electronics.
