DESCRIPTION:three masters of improvisation \nFrank Gratkowski\, born in Hamburg in 1963 and studied at the Cologne\nUniversity of Music and Dance. As a bandleader and composer\, he traverses the\nbroad context of contemporary improvised music. While still a student\, Gratkowski\nworked with trombonist and composer Klaus König\, as part of Georg Graewe’s\nGrubenKlangOrchester and in the WDR Big Band. In 1995 he formed the Frank\nGratkowski Trio with Dieter Manderscheid on bass and Gerry Hemingway on\ndrums. They were joined in 2000 by Dutch trombonist Wolter Wierbos. Since 2001\nhe has been part of a trio with Achim Kaufmann on piano and Wilbert de Joode on\nbass. With his first solo program\, he was an award-winner at the “Musik kreativ”\ncompetition. As a soloist\, he has released the thus far three-part CD series\n“Artikulationen” (1991\, 2000\, 2023). In 2008 the experimental saxophone quartet\n“Fo[u]r Alto” was formed. He is a co-founder of the Multiple Joy[ce] Orchestra.\nGratkowski has played as a soloist\, bandleader or sideman at the most important\nGerman and numerous international festivals. In 2005 he received the prestigious\nSWR Jazz Prize. Among other things\, he has performed with a trio at the\nDonaueschinger Festival\, After his work “Mature Hybird Talking” for and with\nEnsemble Modern in 2022\, he worked with Ensemble Musikfabrik in 2023. DESCRIPTION:Mein nächster Gast bei „Mensch & Musik“ ist der Berliner Multiinstrumentalist Karl Neukauf. Ich kenne Karl noch von meiner Show „Lüüls Live Lounge“\, wo er mit seiner tiefen Stimme und skurrilen Texten als Liedermacher begeisterte. Er ist aber nicht nur Sänger\, sondern auch Keyboarder\, Gitarrist\, Produzent und gut gebuchter Gastmusiker in den verschiedensten Projekten. Zum Beispiel bei Danny Dziuk\, André Herzberg\, aber auch bei so großen Namen wie Lana del Rey oder Tony Christie! Sein aktuelles Album „Karleidoskop“ gewann den Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik. Ich freu mich auf Karl\, seine Lieder und seine Geschichte.\n\nKarl Neukauf kommt aus Berlin. Nicht aus dem Berlin der Hipster und Veganer\, sondern aus dem Berlin der Raucher und Poeten. Er macht Musik für Erwachsene. DESCRIPTION:Blues ist eine der ursprünglichsten Arten Musik zu machen\, Gefühle auszudrücken\, sich sich verbunden zu fühlen. \nJedermann hat seine eigene Geschichte. \nWas uns alle verbindet\, ist das Fühlen. Das Auf und Ab unseres Daseins\, unseres Alltags mit Freude\, Verzweiflung\, Hoffnung\, Trauer oder Glück. \nKaum eine Musikform schenkt uns dafür so viel Freiraum\, Gestaltungsraum wie der Blues. \nBlues ist eine einfache Musik – 12 Takte im Kreis. Doch was innerhalb dieser 12 Takte geschieht\, das ist das ganze Leben. \nDie Musiker des Berlin Blues Project haben ihr ganzes Leben der Musik gewidmet. \nRudy Redl (Bandleader\, Pianist) kommt ursprünglich vom Funk & Soul. Schon als 14-jähriger hat er in München in den Clubs sein Herz an diese Musik verloren. Mit unbestechlicher und nicht nachlassender Power lässt er die Zuschauer nicht vom Haken. \nMike Russel (Gitarre) kommt aus derselben Tradition. Er ist so pur und echt von dieser Musik durchdrungen\, als wäre er aus der Zeit gesprungen. \nUnd Tilman Person an den Drums vereint in sich die geniale Mischung zwischen Führung und Hingabe. \nKaty Kay kommt ursprünglich vom Schauspiel. Als Quereinsteigerin schafft sie es\, mit der Stimme nicht Worte oder Töne zu singen\, sondern einen besonderen Kontext zu schaffen. \nDas\, wie sie sagt\, schönste Kompliment\, das sie bekam\, war: „Sie singt wirklich von die Herz….“ \nOptisch arbeitet die Band mit Projektionen\, die das Bühnengeschehen transparent und vielschichtig erscheinen lassen und dem Live-Geschehen eine zusätzliche Ebene der Zeitlosigkeit verleihen. \nEintritt: 15 Euro\nVorverkauf: über eventim.de \n\n

Bereits während dieser Zeit war er ein Jahr lang Mitglied des Vienna Art Orchestra und unternahm mit ihm Tourneen durch Europa. 1981 trat er mit dem Orchester bei den Berliner Jazztagen auf. Von 1983 bis 1987 war er freischaffend und unterrichtete auch an der Musikschule Berlin-Kreuzberg. Von 1987 bis 1989 war er Mitglied des Orchesters des Theater des Westens. Zwischen 1988 und 1997 gehörte er zu Alexander von Schlippenbachs Berlin Contemporary Jazz Orchestra\, mit dem er drei CDs aufnahm[1] und auch in Japan auftrat. Als Solist war er von 1989 bis 2002 beim RIAS Tanzorchester (später RIAS Big Band) angestellt und spielte dort zusammen mit Dave Brubeck\, Lee Konitz\, Toots Thielemans\, Clark Terry\, Natalie Cole u. a. Seit 2002 ist er freiberuflich als Musiker tätig und hat unter anderem mit Aki Takase\, Ekkehard Wölk\, Rudi Mahall\, Till Brönner\, Matthias Harig  Veronika Vogel  und vielen anderen überwiegend  im Raum  Berlin zusammengearbeitet.
