Improvisation is our only way forward.\nThat change is coming; it is emergent and urgent.\, which is sürgős in Hungarian. \nSürgős\nis a new international ensemble featuring globally recognized improvisors coming together in live collaboration\, beginning with a short tour of Europe this April!\nCox and Levin first played together with Cecil Taylor at the San Francisco Jazz Festival in the late 1990s. This will mark their first outing together. Levin and Akira Ando have worked together in several ensembles over the years. Jakub Švejnar and Christopher Cox have worked together with saxophonist Jason Robinson on his last European tour\, and in the exploratory trio Sapien Paradox\, which is a fusion of free jazz and electronic noise music.\nThe music will intense\, not the kind of thing you can passively observe. DESCRIPTION:Crinale – record release\nThe album Crinale was recorded at Zentrifuge Studio\, Berlin\, Dec.\, 14th 2024\, by the pianist Tommaso Vespo\, the bassist Ben Lahmann and the drummer Martial Frenzel. \nThey never played before as a trio even played together as members of the Berlin Improvisers Orchestra. \nThe music is totally improvised. \nThe mixing and the photo cover are by Tito Knapp. \nThe album is released on https://tommasovespo.bandcamp.com/album/crinale \nTOMMASO VESPO\, Italian jazz pianist\, active in the Italian and European free music scene; member of various groups and orchestras with which he has played in festivals in NY\, London\, Vienna and Italy; he has to his credit recordings as leader and member; since 2013 he has been member of Berlin Improvisers Orchestra. \nBEN LEHMANN\, bassist\, born in Berlin in 1990\, is an active mainstay of Berlin`s young\, modern Jazz scene. He plays together with leading improvisors across different generations in German Free Jazz\, as well as in varying formations which focus on his own and bandmates‘ compositions. Exemplary are his musical collaborations with Christof Thewes\, Henrik Walsdorff\, Rudi Mahall\, Jan Roder\, Anna Kaluza\, Paul Engelmann\, Martial Frenzel\, Florian Müller\, Hartmut Oswald\, Jan Leipnitz\, Johannes Barthelmes and many more. He’s a member of the BerIO. \nMARTIAL FRENZEL\, drummer\, he studied jazz at the University of Saarland and became part of the Saarbrucken jazz scene\, playing in various ensembles as well as in the jazz rock trio HUL (Discoboys\, 2011). Moved to Berlin\, he works regularly with Christof Thewes (in the quartet and big band) and in various groups as Hydropuls\, Fase IV\, Quartetto Pazzo with Rudi Mahall\, among others. He’s a member of the BerIO.

Mich haben sie schon als Kind fasziniert\, während sie die erwachsenen Leser vielleicht zum Schmunzeln bringen … \nWir hoffen dabei\, dass unser Wirt uns mit seiner Gitarre und griechischen Liedern wie so oft in Sphären entführt\, die zwischen dem Traum von Griechenland und den Drachenländern Vermitteln … was bleibt mir zu tun? \nIch darf die heiße Drachensaat auf die Insel Zypern entführen; dort steigt\, was für ein Anblick\, Aphrodite aus schneeweißem Schaum und viel Phantasie an Land\, um als erstes drei stinkende Ziegenböcke in der Gestalt von Aposteln zu treffen; dabei liebt sie den Kriegsgott Ares; aber wen bekommt sie? Hephaistos\, den hinkenden Schmied\, den die Olympier verstoßen haben … so bleibt es bei Aphrodites Träumen von Liebe\, Schönheit und Krieg … \nJa\, es herrscht Krieg\, nicht nur ein Krieg. Also wird unsere Bühne am Ende des Abends die Tür in die Wirklichkeit öffnen: Es geht um Retter\, die Hilfe brauchen\, um den Opfern helfen zu können\, und zwar dort\, wo keiner mehr hin will … Beides gehört zusammen\, kluge Literatur\, die uns unterhält\, und der Sinn für die Nöte des Lebens\, die es lebendig erhalten. \nAlso darf ich auch dieses Mal wieder \nHerzlich willkommen!
